Who this policy covers
This policy covers the SideSpin apps for Android and iOS (iPhone), including test builds for invited testers through Google Play testing and Apple TestFlight, and later public releases. The publisher is responsible for the game and is the contact for privacy questions about it.
Current status: SideSpin has been released only as a Windows playtest, which contains no live ads or purchases. The Android and iOS versions are being prepared for private testing and are not available on Google Play or the App Store. This policy describes how the mobile versions are designed to handle information. If a service or its data practices change before release, this policy will be updated. The PortosLabs website privacy notice separately covers the portoslabs.com website.
Summary
- Your game progress and settings stay on your device. There is no game account, publisher game server, chat, multiplayer, leaderboard or cloud save.
- The game shows one bottom banner ad from Google AdMob. Google's ad services process technical data such as your IP address, device identifiers and ad interactions, even for non-personalized ads and test ads.
- Where required, Google's privacy message asks for your choices before ads are requested, and you can review them again in the game.
- One optional, permanent Remove Ads purchase is processed by Google Play on Android or the App Store on iOS, through Unity In-App Purchasing. Cosmetics are not sold.
- If you test through TestFlight, Apple automatically shares crash and usage information with the publisher.
- The publisher does not add its own gameplay analytics and does not sell your personal information. This does not mean that the third-party services described below collect nothing.
Information stored on your device
SideSpin stores the following locally so it can remember your choices and progress: settings such as audio, controls, display and haptics; menu theme and chosen location, table and paddle; lesson progress; career statistics, ranks, goals and rival stickers; City Circuit and daily-challenge progress; and a recovery save so an unfinished match can continue. A record of a confirmed Remove Ads purchase is stored separately from this game data.
The game does not send this information to the publisher. There is no player account, and the publisher cannot view, recover or delete it remotely. The game keeps it until it is overwritten, you clear the app's storage (Android), or you delete the app. Device backups are separate: Android backup or iCloud/device backup, if enabled, may copy and restore app data under Google's or Apple's terms. Deleting the app does not remove copies in those backups or records held by the providers below.
Advertising: Google AdMob
On both platforms the game uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show a single banner at the bottom of the screen. According to Google's disclosures for its Android and iOS SDKs, it automatically collects the following for advertising, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate the device's general location;
- Device identifiers: on Android, the advertising ID and app set ID; on iOS, a device identifier such as an app- or developer-scoped identifier;
- Product and advertising interactions, such as app launches, taps, ad views and the ads you have seen;
- Diagnostic and performance information, such as crash logs, app launch time and other performance data for the app and the SDK;
- Device and network information needed to request and display an ad, such as the device model, operating system and app version.
SideSpin requests non-personalized ads, disables publisher first-party identifiers, mutes ad audio and limits ads to content suitable for general audiences. Non-personalized ads still involve this processing to deliver, limit, measure and secure ads. Test builds show labelled Google test ads; test ads also contact Google's servers.
On iOS, SideSpin does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, so iOS does not give the app your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). Neither this nor the use of non-personalized ads means that no data is collected or that privacy choices are unnecessary.
Google acts under its own policies for this data. Read Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
If ads cannot load, or you decline the choices needed for ads, the game remains fully playable.
Privacy choices
SideSpin uses Google's User Messaging Platform to check, at launch, whether privacy and consent messages are required, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and shows them where they are. Ads are only requested when Google's consent framework allows it. Your choices are stored on your device and passed to Google so they can be applied to ad requests.
Where privacy choices are required in your region, the game provides a Privacy choices option so you can review or change them at any time.
Remove Ads purchase
A single, optional, permanent (non-consumable) purchase removes the banner from SideSpin. It is not a subscription and does not unlock modes or cosmetics. On Android it is processed by Google Play; on iOS by Apple's App Store. The store shows the price for your region before you pay. Payments are handled by the store, and the publisher does not receive your payment-card details.
The game uses Unity In-App Purchasing (version 5.4 or later) to connect to Google Play Billing on Android and Apple's StoreKit on iOS. To validate, confirm and restore the purchase, the game processes the product identifier, transaction or order identifiers, the store's signed purchase or receipt information, and ownership status. Once ownership is confirmed, it is saved on your device, separately from your game progress, so ads stay off when you play offline.
A purchase belongs to the store and account used to buy it. You can restore it with Restore purchases on a reinstalled or new device using the same Google account on Android or the same Apple Account on iOS. A Google Play purchase does not transfer to the App Store, or the other way round. Restoring a purchase does not restore game progress.
Google Play and Apple keep transaction records and provide the publisher with sales and order information for accounting, refunds and support. Unity documents its own data processing for this purchasing SDK, including identifiers such as a Unity installation ID, device information, session identifiers and country. SideSpin does not use Unity accounts, Unity Analytics, a web shop or a separate payment server.
Removing ads stops future ad requests. It does not delete data that advertising or store providers have already received. Read Google's privacy policy, the Google Payments privacy notice, Apple's privacy policy, Unity IAP's privacy information and Unity's privacy policy.
Testing
Apple TestFlight (iOS). Testing on iPhone is private and by invitation. To invite you, the publisher enters your email address, and your name where provided, in Apple's App Store Connect, and Apple sends the invitation. When you install a SideSpin beta through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information from the beta, and testers cannot opt out of this collection. Apple shares it with the publisher, together with any feedback you choose to send. This can include details such as your device model, iOS and app versions, sessions and crashes. Feedback is optional and can include screenshots and comments.
The publisher uses this information only to manage the test, investigate problems and improve the game, does not share it with third parties, and keeps it only as long as needed for those purposes. Tester names and email addresses are never published. It is provided by Apple's TestFlight service; SideSpin does not add its own analytics SDK. Read Apple's TestFlight privacy information.
Google Play testing (Android). Invited Android testers join with their Google account. Google Play lets the publisher manage the list of tester accounts and receive feedback you choose to send through Google Play.
Purchases in test builds are handled by the store's test systems where applicable; see the support page.
Support email
If you email support, the publisher receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, and uses them to answer you and investigate the issue. The email services involved process the message to deliver and store the conversation. Please don't send passwords, verification codes, payment-card details or other information that is not needed.
Support messages are kept for as long as needed to resolve the request and handle related follow-up. Records may be retained longer where required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. You can ask for deletion using the contact address on this page.
Why information is processed
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply: local game data is processed to provide the game you asked to play. Ad processing relies on the choices you make in Google's privacy message where consent is required, and otherwise on the publisher's legitimate interest in funding a free game with non-personalized ads. Purchase processing is necessary to provide and restore a purchase you request and to meet tax and accounting obligations. Test information is processed based on the publisher's legitimate interest in finding and fixing problems before release. Support email is processed to answer your request, based on legitimate interests or, where it concerns a purchase, the purchase agreement.
Sharing and international transfers
Data is shared only with the providers described above: Google (ads, privacy choices, Google Play and its billing), Apple (App Store, StoreKit and TestFlight) and Unity (in-app purchasing), plus email providers when you contact support. These providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States, under their own safeguards for international transfers. The publisher may also disclose information where required by law. The publisher does not sell personal information.
Age
SideSpin is intended for players aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and the publisher does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Being 13 or older does not make a player an adult: the age at which a young person can agree to online data processing differs between countries. If you are below that age where you live, ask a parent or guardian before agreeing to privacy choices or making a purchase. If you believe a child under 13 has contacted the publisher, email the address above so the information can be deleted.
Retention and deletion
- Game data on your device: on Android, clear SideSpin's storage in Settings or uninstall the app; on iOS, delete the app. This erases progress on that device and cannot be undone by the publisher. Copies in device or cloud backups follow your backup settings.
- Advertising data: retained by Google under its policies. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in settings; you can manage Google privacy settings in your Google account.
- Purchase records: retained by Google Play or Apple and, where applicable, Unity under their policies and legal obligations. Deleting the game does not cancel or delete a completed purchase.
- TestFlight information: retained by Apple under its TestFlight terms. You can manage data Apple holds at privacy.apple.com, and ask the publisher about TestFlight information it received.
- Support email: retained as described in the support section above.
There is no SideSpin account to delete. Clearing local game data does not remove records already held by Google, Apple or Unity, and the publisher does not control those records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal information, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You can withdraw ad consent through Privacy choices in the game. For other requests, email the publisher with “Privacy request” in the subject. Requests concerning data held by Google, Apple or Unity will be explained or forwarded where possible. You may also complain to your data-protection authority.
Security
Game data stays on your device and is protected by the operating system's app storage. The ad and purchase services communicate with their providers over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Changes
When the game's data practices change, for example a new service or a change in the final SDK versions, this policy and the Google Play and App Store privacy declarations will be updated, and the effective date above will change.
